Renowned Nigerian actress, director, and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi, has opened up about the negative reviews surrounding her movie, ‘Ijakumo: the Born Again Stripper, shedding light on the reasons behind the backlash.
Since its release, the movie has faced criticism on social media, although some individuals have expressed enjoyment of the film.
In response to the negative comments, Toyin Abraham attributed the unfavourable reviews to her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2022.

According to her, many of the critics were individuals who opposed her political stance.
Expressing her frustration, Toyin Abraham questioned why her personal choice had become a problem that now affected her hard work.
She also revealed that a specific WhatsApp group had been created solely to disparage her movie. In a tweet, she stated:
“You all went to create WhatsApp group cos of Ijakumo the born again stripper, pls continue maybe it’s today I will kuku break the table. You all will tell the world why choosing my candidate is a crime and yours isn’t. Loni yi mo mura yin wa.”
‘Ijakumo’ revolves around the story of Asabi, a spiritualist seeking revenge against a former lover who has become a pastor.

To accomplish her mission, she enlists the assistance of a stripper to lure the clergyman towards his downfall.
