Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington recently opened up about her initial worries and subsequent support for her husband, Banky W, as he pursued a career in politics.
Banky W announced his candidacy for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat as a member of the Modern Democratic Party in November 2018.
However, he faced defeat in the 2019 election to Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress.
Undeterred, Banky W ran again in the 2023 elections, representing the Peoples Democratic Party, but he lost to Attah Thaddeus from the Labour Party.

During a recent interview with Hip TV, Adesua Etomi-Wellington admitted that she initially felt worried and disturbed by her husband’s decision to enter partisan politics.
Nonetheless, she wholeheartedly supported him because she believed that fulfilling one’s purpose is more important than succumbing to fear.
Adesua expressed her sentiments: “When Banky said that he wanted to go into politics, I was a little bit worried and disturbed about it.
But I also believe that purpose is more important than fear. And I want to see him fulfil his purpose. So, he has my support 100 per cent.”
