Guinness World Records explains why Hilda Baci’s record was reduced by over 7 hours

  • Nigerians are excited after Hilda Baci was revealed by Guinness World Records to be the record holder.
  • However, the organization explained why it did not give her the recognition for 100 hours of cooking that many had anticipated.
  • The owner of the restaurant made a mistake that resulted in the deduction of nearly seven hours from her cooking time.

Hilda Baci’s official final total was reduced by more than six hours, according to Guinness World Records, who also provided an explanation.

Hilda completed a cookathon in May 2023 over the course of 100 hours, but GWR recently certified her for 93 hours and 11 minutes instead.

Guinness World Records explains why Hilda Baci’s record was reduced

GWR clarified the deduction in a broadcast via their verified Twitter account as follows:

“However, anyone attempting a marathon record receives five minutes break for every hour that they complete.

“This is to allow suitable rest breaks for the participants, due to the prolonged nature of these records.

“In this case, there was a miscalculation when it came to Hilda’s rest breaks, meaning we are unable to award the 100 hours claimed.”

Look at GWR’s tweet listing Hilda Baci as a recommendation. The deduction was attributed to Hilda’s error, according to a website snippet from GWR. The quote reads:

“Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.”
