An electoral court tribunal in Osogbo, Osun state, has sacked Ademola Adeleke, the incumbent governor of Osun state.
Former governor of the state and the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adegboyega Oyetola, had petitioned the tribunal regarding the election held in July 2022.
Justice Tetsea Kume who delivered the judgement on Friday, January 27, faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for not completely obeying the provisions of the electoral act.

Also, he argued that there was evidence of over-counting of votes which were in favour of the incumbent governor.
Withdraw the certificate of return
The Tribunal also ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return earlier issued to Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Power.
Adeleke’s votes were shrunk down to 290, 266 while that of Oyetola stood at 314, 921 after the over-voting observed was deducted from the score of both candidates.
