According to the video shared by the YouTube channel, Unraveling Scriptures, all tribes in the earth originated from the three sons of Noah – Shem, Ham and Japheth. This is in accordance with what is written in the Bible.

This origination also applies to black people whose origin is from Ham. Ham is the progenitor of the Hamites that include the African people – it is believed that the origin of the blacks is written in Genesis 10:6-20.

Origin of Africans according to the Bible

The name Ham holds a specific connotation in both Hebrew and Aramaic. The name Ham literally means “The colour of something burnt,” in other words, something dark. This suggests that Ham was described as a man with dark skin.

Ham had four sons who were considered the patriarchs of black people – they are considered the ancestors of various black nations. They lay the foundation for the origin of Africans according to the Bible.

The name of Noah’s first son was Cush/Kush, which literally meant black. This made him the first patriarch of the black people. He was the leader of the kingdom of Kush, situated in the upper Nile. This is not present day Sudan.

This kingdom existed for many centuries and exerted influence in Northeast Africa. In ancient times, the Greeks referred to them as Ethiopians, which means “Burnt faces” or “Black faces”. Over time, the term Kush came to be mainly associated with Ethiopia.

Sill on the origin of Africans according to the Bible, the second son of Ham was names Mizraim and his name in Hebrew literally means “Egypt”. The descendants of Mizraim inhabited the traditional Egyptian region which has remained till date.

The third son of Ham, Phut or Put, was the progenitor of the African tribes that were hunters. His name means “A bow” and the people of this tribe were known for constantly using bows to hunt.

Some of the regions of Africa associated it Put include Libya, Somalia, Nubia and other areas in East Africa.

In this way, the sons of Ham contributed to the origin of Africans according to the Bible.
