The scholarship is subject to reasonable progress for each year of study. The University of Glasgow is one of the oldest public universities in Scotland. It was founded in 1451.

The scholarship is by a consortium of seven world-class international well-known Universities. The Program looks to Study how local places and actors, create local competitiveness under global market conditions.

This program is a two-year academic program that provides you with the serious skills to make sense of the meeting complementarity of the universal and local, but it also provides opportunities with companies to gain practical experience and also with public policy organization.

Students get between eight and ten core between eight optional courses, depending on their course of study. They get a mix of lectures and seminars.

You will get to study at three of the Glocal partner universities. Another opportunity that comes with the program, is the opportunities for internships and industrial positions.  

Eligible Fields

  • The scholarships entertain applications from a number of backgrounds within the social sciences, political science, development studies, business majors, humanities, and languages; however, a strong background in history, and economics.
  • The academic requirement depends on the course you choose to apply for.
  • Candidates that have previously studied Economics or Business/Management also have the opportunity of applying to these study tracks, so long as they can evidence some wider interest.
  • Candidates applying for Pathway B and F are mandated to have an academic background in Social Sciences.
  • Other courses such as Engineering, Sciences, Architecture, etc. They will be considered for entry into the program and for the scholarship if they have a strong academic background in the aimed courses listed above.

Candidates’ Select Criteria

Students from any part of the world can get the scholarship. However, the scheme will only give room for no more than three candidates with the same nationality (same intake, same category). The terms of the scholarship depend on the nationality of the student and residence.

2. University of Glasgow African & Caribbean Excellence Scholarships

The University of Glasgow is giving out 10 scholarships to international students or staff from African countries and the Caribbean. It is a postgraduate master’s program in any field of study for the 2022/2023 academic session.

Eligibility

  • It is a master’s program that is only open to African countries, and candidates will be assessed on the basis of their application for admission. They must also:
  • Have international fee status
  • Show academic brilliance and come up with grades equivalent to a UK 1st class honours.
  • Must be nominated by a member of staff at one of the partner universities in any of the regions.
  • Must be a student or staff member at one of the university partners in any of the regions

How to Apply

  • Candidates must complete an application form to be looked at for the scholarship, only candidates with offers will be able to apply.
  • Candidates should upload a complete form of nomination from a member of staff at a partner university.
  • Candidates shortlisted for the interview will be contacted

3. Tourism Development & Culture (Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters) Scholarships

The University of Glasgow made known the disposal of scholarships for master’s degrees in tourism development and culture. The Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available for international students that qualify.

The University of Glasgow is the leading partner amongst all of the universities that have come up with this joint master’s program. Other partner schools awarding the degree include the University Institute Lisbon, the University of Malta, and Lund University (Sweden).

Eligibility

  • The scholarship covers the entire duration of the master’s course, and they are given only to full-time registers of the course. Candidates must be an undergraduate with a minimum degree of 2:1 honours or equivalent.
  • Candidates that have benefited from the Action 1 Erasmus Mundus master’s/ doctoral scholarship will not be eligible for another EMJMD scholarship. Candidates that are successful cannot benefit from another EU scholarship while chasing the EMJMD scholarship.
  • The compulsory movement schedule cannot be replaced with virtual movement. They can also not take place in universities outside the group.
  • Further study/research/thesis preparation/placement periods can be done in other joint organizations in the group. This is under the condition that the concerned activities are applied under the direct supervision of the group partner.
  • support to survival costs will not be given to scholarship holders for periods of the EMJMD spent in their country of residence.

4. Beit Trust Masters & PhD. Scholarships

The next batch of Beit Scholarships is for the year, beginning September 2023 for schools in the UK, and January 2024 for schools in South Africa. Beit Trust gives several Postgraduate Master’s or Ph.D. scholarships abroad yearly. It is for studies or research to candidates who are living in the area.

How to Apply

  • Applications should be made straight to the partner universities, and only to those universities, through their websites and in the period beginning September 2023 (although some application windows do not open until October. You will be guided by their website)
  • Applications for the scholarship should be for a one-year taught Master’s Degree (to UK universities), and a two-year taught Master’s in South Africa.
  • As long as the courses you are going for are available, you can apply to more than one partner university at a time. Indeed, we advise you to do so, to increase your chances, and to expand the scholarship opportunities available.
  • Once you get an offer from your selected partner university, you should apply as quickly as possible to The Beit Trust for a scholarship. When the new windows open for application, there will be a linked application form there.
  • The Trust will notify selected candidates of the date of the interview, time, and place.

Criteria for Selection

  • Prospective candidates must have at least a degree of class 2.1, i.e. Merit or Distinction.
  • The selectors choose disciplines and practices that are useful. They are likely to give a clear benefit to the beneficial area.
  • Only those candidates who state that they will return to work in the relevant country when they finish their scholarship, and if short-listed, who can show up for an interview before a Beit Postgraduate Scholarship Selection Board at the beginning of December, will be considered.

The value of scholarship

  • costs of tuition and related academic charges are paid by the Trust direct to the universities.
  • Other allowances are paid on arrival, for a laptop, thesis printing, and return home.
  • Personal allowance Payment, index-linked in agreement with supervision from a neutral authority covering maintenance support.
  • Allowances are paid for spouses or other family members.
  • The Trust provides Economy Class air passages for the initial journey to the place of study, and for the return at the end of the course.

How to Apply

  • Notify the important university, as a section of your study application, that you will be contacting the Beit Trust for scholarship funding.
  • submit your application for admission straight to one or more of the joint Universities, and only to those universities. Please apply through their websites.
  • Once you receive an offer from your chosen University, you should apply as soon as possible to The Beit Trust for a scholarship.
  • As long as the course you want is available, you can apply to more than one Partner University at a time. Indeed, we advise you to do so, to increase your chances of being accepted, and to widen the scholarship opportunities available.
  • You need three referees: They have separate and individual forms, and the link must be sent to them by you, the candidate. The link will be available once you submit your scholarship application form electronically.
