In his words:

“Grandma had always wished to have a house. I started building the house on February 18, 2023, my birthday. I only had KSh 50,000. I brought a lorry of sand and building blocks. On that day, my grandma made a powerful prayer. It has taken me three months to complete this project. As a structural engineer, I designed and managed the construction of the house by myself. I hired people to help me.”

Mwangi, his grandmother, described their previous trials and the sufferings she endured at the transfer ceremony. On Facebook, he uploaded the video.

“While blessing us during the house handover, grandma said we used to eat ugali and fried blood collected from slaughterhouses. When we visited home as adults, we could not sleep in a one-bedroom house because there was no space. Some people were using her as a good example of poverty. She was referred to as the poorest. Many said she would die poor,” Mwangi added.

Njoki prayed for her caring grandchild, who made her desire come true.

“I have never imagined sleeping in a stone house made for the rich. It has attracted attention in the community, and they are now calling it ‘nyumba ya mzungu’. God will always answer your prayers, however long it takes,” she said.
