2023 Elections outcome: Peter Obi addresses world press conference

Following the aftermath of the recently conducted presidential election in Nigeria, which was marred by allegations of massive rigging, the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has addressed a world press conference.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, March 1, declared the flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, President-elect despite calls from opposition parties like the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the electoral umpire to suspend proceedings.

The Labour Party and several other parties rejected the election outcome because INEC failed to play by the rules of the game and didn’t transmit results from the polling units as enshrined in the electoral act and promised by the commission’s chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu.

“People were busy doing what was wrong in this election, and I have chosen to challenge this rascality for the future of this nation,” Peter Obi said at the world press conference.

He said his party won the election, and he would prove it to Nigerians. “The people we’re dealing with have made up their mind that we won’t succeed, but we’re determined that we will succeed,” Obi added.

Peter Obi encouraged Nigerian youths, urging them to believe him as a father while reiterating his commitment towards this course. He pleaded with young people who want to leave Nigeria following the election outcome to please stay because he’s not going away.

The former Anambra state Governor’s press briefing is coming after his running mate, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, had addressed a press conference yesterday.

Peter Obi cannot be intimidated —Fayose warns

Meanwhile, Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti state, described Peter Obi of the Labour Party as a man of few words who cannot be intimidated.

In an interview with TVC News on Tuesday, Fayose clarified that Obi had become an institution that cannot be marginalised.

According to him, anyone who emerged as the President will ignore the former governor of Anambra state at their own peril.
