Gospel artist, Mercy Chinwo threatened to sue Nigerian singer Obi Lawson, also known as Obidiz, for exploiting her name in a secular song, and he has now replied.
Recall that the gospel artiste sent Obidiz, via her attorney, a “cease and desist” letter demanding that he remove his song, “Mercy Chinwo,” from all online music platforms.
The aforementioned song which portrays the tale of a rebellious church girl, was released in 2023.

Obidiz was compelled to remove the music from all platforms and publicly and personally apologize to gospel artiste.
She threatened legal action, including asking the court to punish him with N2 billion in damages for using her name indecently, if he didn’t comply with her instructions.
Obidiz responded via his Twitter account and refuted claims that the gospel singer was mentioned in the song. He claimed that the song was about a woman he met.
“Na song I sing I no kill person. Mercy Chinwo for church, but in the club she’s Cardi B set’ you want to crucify me, I only Talks about a lady that I met, na she I sing about.” He wrote.
