Governor Wike in trouble: Over 200,000 Nigerians sign petition, asks UK, US to cancel his visa

Things have suddenly gone awry for the Rivers State Governor, as well over 200,000 Nigerians have signed a petition against him.

According to the petitioners, Gov. Wike has been involved in sabotaging the electoral process in the state. They say he intends to stir up violence with the hopes that he could travel out anytime he pleases.

In the petition, displeased citizens demanded that the UK, the US, Canada, Europe and Asia annul the visa of Nyesom Wike.

Many Nigerians have crowded the tweet to further express their annoyance, while some others have resorted to mocking the governor. On the flip side, others expressed their doubt as to whether the petition would achieve anything:

DO NOT SET NIGERIA ON FIRE! Obasanjo pleads…

Meanwhile, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo gave a speech on 27 February, 2023. He called for postponement of compromised elections! A transcript is shown below:

I am constrained to speak at this point.
I crave the indulgence of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency General Muhammadu Buhari, to make this statement because I have had opportunity to keep him aware of what I know is happening and the danger looming ahead.

On many occasions in the past, I have not hesitated to point out lacuna in the action of the President and his government. But as far as the election issues are concerned, the President has proved beyond reasonable doubt that he will want to leave a legacy of free, fair, transparent and credible elections.
