The Basha Miao haircut of Asia only done using a sickle against the scalp

Marvel at an incredible haircut ritual typical of the Basha Miao village in China’s Guizhou province.

Young males participate in their first ceremonial haircut, which ushers them into maturity, between the ages of 7 and 15.

Nothing else is required, just the expertly delicate stroke of the sharp sickle across the scalp—no soap, no lather, no water.

The residents of the village, who have been defending and guarding their historic territory for thousands of years, have even earned the moniker “living terracotta warriors.”

They are the last group of gunmen in China, and their forebears were soldiers who defended their precious community from attackers big and small, including bears.

In Basha Miao’s self-sufficient community, ancient traditions and customs are still observed, and ceremonies, attire, worship, and celebration are all centered around the trees that surround this incredibly mysterious location.

Because trees give us life, they are revered, and as a result, we must safeguard them at least according to their culture.

The Basha Miao haircut: A sign of maturity

An ancient tree may not be cut down or otherwise harmed, and violators will face penalties according to the Basha Miao customs.

After a child is born, a new tree is planted in their honor, and ‘their’ tree is used to create the coffin after the person passes away.

At the age of 15, the boys also receive their first hunting gun, further confirming their transition to adulthood and their capacity to ‘defend’ the Basha Miao village and engage in wild game hunting.

The tribe chief wets a sickle with egg-boiling water and begins to shave off all of the hair but the center section.

This section is left intact to allow for the creation of a topknot, a crucially masculine trait of a Basha man.

The braid or bun that is kept intact is thought to depict a tree.

During this process, the blade delicately skims the scalp without the use of shaving cream or even water, allowing patches of hair to fall to the ground.

Meanwhile, the Himba tribe, who reside in Namibia’s Kunene region, are also known as the Ovahimba or Omhimba people.

They are custodians of very bizarre cultures such as offering free s3x to their visitors and dressing newborns in necklaces made of beads.

They are an introverted huddle of people and are adamant about maintaining scarce contact with external influences.
