A Nigerian YouTuber reveals a shocking discovery of the origin of the Ibibio tribe in Nigeria.

According to Inemswitcheeks, the Ibibio people are said to be the earliest inhabitants of the South-Southern region of Nigeria. It is estimated that the ancestors of this tribe arrived at their present home around 7000 BC.

Historians hold the belief that the forefathers of Ibibio sojourned through Central Africa to Ghana. Some people stayed back in Ghana while others continued the search for a place to settle.

The origin of the Ibibio tribe in Nigeria

While some sojourners stayed in Ghana, others migrated to the southern part of Cameroon and so the spreading continued.

When the Ibom people first arrived at what later became Nigeria, they first settled at Ibom. They were believed to be the original people of the Ibom settlement.

The settlement was founded by the Ibom people. In fact, the settlement bore the name of the forefather – Ibom.

Ibom is now known as Arochukwu in Abia State and is located in the South-East of Nigeria, a place where the Ibom settlement was.

It is believed that they settled there in peace for over 400 years until the Igbos declared war on the Ibom people.

Still narrating the origin of the Ibibio tribe in Nigeria, different clans were migrating and settling in different places and the Ibibios migrated and settled in the present-day Ibibio land. This is the origin of the Ibibio tribe in Nigeria.
