Young African Invents Touch Screen Medical Tablet

24-year-old Cameroonian engineer Arthur Zang, invents  touch screen medical tablet  that can do heart diagnostics like the electrocardiogram (ECG).

The test’s results are wirelessly transmitted to experts who can interpret them.

The technology eliminates the hassle of requiring African patients to go to urban centers for medical checks if they live in distant areas.

According to Zang, the touch screen medical tablet named the Cardiopad is “the first fully touch screen medical tablet made in Cameroon and in Africa.”

The touch screen medical tablet and it’s potential

He thinks the innovation has the potential to save a lot of lives and claims that the pad device has a reliability rate of up to 97.5%.

According to Zang, he created the tool to make it easier to treat patients with heart disease throughout Africa, including Cameroon.

The Cardiopad has so far been used in a number of medical tests that have been approved by the scientific community in Cameroon.

According to Radio Netherlands,

the tablet is used as a classical electrocardiograph device: electrodes are placed on the patient and connected to a module that, in turn, connects to the tablet. When a medical examination is performed on a patient in a remote village, for example, the results are transmitted from the nurse’s tablet to that of the doctor who then interprets them.”

What the cardiopad is solving

According to Zang, “software built into the device allows the doctor to give computer assisted diagnosis.”

Only 30 heart surgeons work in Cameroon, a nation in Central Africa with a population of about 20 million.

To make matters worse, the majority of these heart surgeons are located in Douala or Yaoundé, the two major economic centers of the nation.

Patients with heart conditions frequently have to travel great distances to receive heart examinations and doctor consultations due to the significant shortage of medical personnel.

Patients are also  sometimes required to schedule appointments months in advance, and some even pass away while they are waiting.

Zang thinks his creation will bring down the price of cardiac exams.

African tech and medical communities are already quite interested in the touch screen medical tablet, Cardiopad.

To produce the invention economically, the inventor is presently looking for venture money.

Meanwhile, a brilliant Nigerian invents solar wall clock with illumination.

In the heart of Enugu, Nigeria, the remarkable young inventor illuminated the path to a sustainable future with his ingenious creation—a solar-powered wall clock.

This pioneering invention took advantage of the supply of sunlight in Nigeria and the insufficient power supply especially at night.
