Youngest Nigerian man to bag a PhD, Akinyele Aminu, accomplished the exceptional feat at the University of Pittsburgh, United States, at the remarkable age of 21.
Prior to this achievement, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature with outstanding distinction from Mountain Top University.
According to Akinyele Aminu’s account to Punch, he embarked on his educational journey at a remarkably young age.

Youngest Nigerian man to bag a PhD
The youngest Nigerian man to bag a PhD progressed through all academic levels until reaching primary school, where he received a double promotion from primary two to primary four. He completed his secondary education and gained admission to the university at the age of 14, coinciding with the same year he completed his secondary schooling.
Captioning his post, he said, “Ph.D. at 21 in non-STEM! I ended my Bachelor’s degree LinkedIn convocation post here in 2019 with “The journey has just begun.” Indeed, it has only just begun.
“I am elated to announce that I have proceeded for a Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh at the age of 21! In recognition of my academic accomplishments, I was awarded a fellowship that caters for my entire tuition as well as all my expenses.
“Looking in retrospect, I have been on several scholarships all my life, and it is God I glorify for this. With a heart of gratitude to God, I can say that I am moving slowly but surely to the Promised Land.
“My immense gratitude goes to my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aminu, for their unquantifiable support. I also sincerely appreciate i-Scholar Initiative (iSI) and EducationUSA for their motivation and guidance throughout my application period and beyond. Mother spreads wrapper on the floor for son who bagged a PhD
In another story, a Nigerian man made his family proud after he bagged his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree prompting his mother to lay her expensive wrappers on the floor for him to walk on like a king.
The young man identified as Barinuaka Bestman from Ogoni, Niger Delta was captured as he stepped on the wrappers his mother laid on the floor while wearing his graduation gown.
According to Rivers Mirror, the young man was an object of ridicule when he got his undergraduate and Masters degree but unfortunately found no job.
